WCW- Alessia Cara

Pretty much obsessed over this music vid. Give it a quick watch, but have some tissues handy.. your eyes might get a little watery.. Such a powerful, empowering message within the lyrics and the video drives that home. It shows real people telling their stories about struggles. Struggles with acceptance. Struggles with body issues. Struggles with self love. It reminds us all they we “don’t have to change a thing” because “we’re stars and we’re beautiful”.

PS- she’ll be at Verizon Theatre in October.. Tickets on sale Friday. I saw her at ACL at a small stage and was blown. the. heck. away… so I can only imagine how she’ll command the stage on a bigger scale. HUGS, AC!

Simple Plan @ KVIL

Yes, Simple Plan, the band we used to blare while we locked ourselves in our rooms. We turned the music up really loud, screamed and hoped no one heard us. Angsty 15 year old Casey that thought the world was against me LOVED that shit. I mean, really, truly, thought it was Perfect. I was Addicted to it, if you know what I mean.

It was a great pleasure to spend Thursday evening at CBS handing out with Roadrunner Records band, Simple Plan, on their grueling radio tour. After chatting with their label rep, the guys have been true all-stars, road tripping from Austin, to Corpus, to Houston, to Dallas.. no complaints, just smiles and good tunes. High five for that, dudes, because there’s no way I would be standing after that drive(s).

Simple Plan is releasing a new CD in the near future. You might have heard “Singing In The Rain,” maybe? If you haven’t, check  it out for sure. It’s the new single… but don’t worry, it’s the same ole angsty band, simply with a fresh face lift. More pop if you will.

The crowd dug the new tune, many already knowing the words (S/O Spotify & YouTube). But when the throwbacks rolled through, the energy changed. The vibe went from yeah this is exciting! to cut my wrists (in the best possible way). Everyone was singing along to tunes such as Welcome To My Life, Perfect and the heavily requested, Untitled. Although  I didn’t get to hear Addicted, which is my freaking jam, I wasn’t upset to have a nostalgic evening listening to other Simple Plan jams that I used to blare (and still do, but my coworkers probably hate me for it).

Not a bad TBT if you ask me. Enjoy some clips (and here and if you’re reading this before my Snaps expire on Friday night.. @CaseyLeeWalker) from the show and pretend you were right there with me rockin’ out. Cross your fingers for some Simple Plan tour dates next fall..

#GRAMMYS THO

Taylor, your hair needs to go back to 1989. Now.  Sorry not sorry. The jumpsuit doesn’t do it for me. I just can’t. Let’s move on.

HUNNAAAAY PLEASE. Can I nominate Carrie and Sam for couple of the year? PS- shameless plugs- Carrie is on tour & Sam is playing #OffTheRails. But seriously. Watch them live. Watch that performance and tell me you don’t feel feels.

Also, can Sam look at me the way he looks at Carrie? Nah? Oh.

Hey Ariana, let’s leave the “earning it” to The Weeknd.. but HEY WEEKND, REMEMBER ME? I WAS AT ACL. Swoon.

Holy shit. That voice control. Weeknd is doing big things.

Ellie + Andra can duet any day. I wasn’t diggin’ it at first, but I’m glad I stuck it out.

Cam’s dress needs to be thrown into a burning house….

Raise your hand if you’re shocked that Chris Stapleton is taking home another award this season… anyone? In fairness, he is great. Lucky enough to see him last year during ACM week.

This group is really testing my “don’t change the channel” mentality. Luke looks smoking but sounds dreadful. Meghan can leave. That peaked at Demi. Downhill from there.

Here’s the deal. I love this song as much as anyone.  But I also saw it live at ACMs a year ago. And it’s been on every awards show. When are we done girl crushin’?

*time to go make dinner* wait, was that a blind joke? followed by a disability plug? respect.

ED SHEERAN FOR THE FREAKING WIN I LOVE YOU, YOU RED HEADED GENIUS. KEEP DOING YOU AND PEOPLE WILL LOVE YOU.

Sounds good. Looks good. Still not giving me all the feels that I want. Change of pace soon?

Nope. No pace change. But gah do they sound good stripped down like this. James Bay can sing to me any time he would like.

So much hype. Will Hamilton live up to it?

WE GON BE ALL RIGHT *turns volume up*

*stuff happened… it didn’t entice me to watch*

Alabama Shakes is so deserving of this. When they played at Verizon, I died. In the best way possible.

Can we make the sound work for Adele? Possible or nah?

JUSTIN BIEBER MY MAMA LIKES YOU I SWEAR AND YOUR MAMA WILL LIKE ME.

He could sing the alphabet and I would listen, tbh. I’m a belieber.

Wait, did Meghan Trainor really win? She took selfies at least half of the time she was on stage when  I saw her. There’s so much talent in that category… why….

YES GAGA YES BOWIE YES GAGA

That was worth the wait. Thank you, gentlemen + Bonnie. Well done. Much feels. Such jazz.

AHHHHH BRITTANY HOWARD TIME

Wait, can we talk about how creepy Alice Cooper is? I want so badly to like this… but I’m struggling…WAIT, ACE OF SPADES, I CAN DIG IT NOW

Wait, he’s only 12? Oh. I’m 23. What am I doing with my life?

SUPPORT MUSIC; BUY CONCERT TIX!

We lost so many talented people in the music community this year. So heartbreaking.

*oh my gosh I’m so shocked I won*

LOLOLOLOL @ sub-talking Ye, made me laugh… but back to girl power, why are no girls on stage with Taylor? She only has famous friends but not famous co-workers?

Dang it. I’m sorry. The world is gonna hate me. I don’t think Beyonce looks good. Those earrings are too much.

I don’t wanna watch Pit… but I like the others.. hashtag TORN… guess I’ll stay up to watch it

*still watching Kanye’s twitter account for a rebuttal*

GUYS THIS WAS ON FB AND I HAD TO INCLUDE IT- Robin Thicke, Pit Bull, and Travis Barker on stage at the same time giving Nickelback a run for their money.

Thanks for hanging, y’all! Stay tuned for some afterthoughts on fashion & performance rankings.. should be a fun few days! xx

Best Picture

I’m a little bit awful at watching current films… despite the fact that I was a film minor… In efforts to enjoy the Oscars as much as I enjoy music awards shows, I am setting out to watch some (most, as many as I can, etc) of the nominated films. I’ll be starting with the obvious…

Tedism

So, I’ve been binging on How I Met Your Mother as of lately. I finally made it to season 9. I’m about halfway through… tears of joy, tears of sadness… it’s a roller coaster and I’m not even to the “good stuff” according to my friends.
One of the reasons I love the show so much is how you can find relatable things in each episode, in various characters. I can identify with each character at different points in the series, which I’m sure is true to all HIMYM watchers. I like to consider Barney my spirit animal… but this season Ted has me feeling all sorts of feels and learning life lessons left and right.
Here’s a #Tedism from episode 9 that really got me thinking.
I used to be in such a hurry all the time. Everything was so urgent. Now I figured, if it’s going to happen it’ll happen when it happens. I’m not going anywhere, she’s not going anywhere. What’s the rush, right?
